Water Conservation Solutions

We are committed to conserving water in our efforts to irrigate
your landscape.

We use only water conserving irrigation products and technology.

Weather Based Controllers

Using an ESP-SMT Smart Irrigation Control System, your system will place the right amount of water on specific lawn and garden zones so that water is not wasted. It usually pays for itself in just a few billing cycles if your now using
alot of water.

Instant rainfall shut-off and useable measurement

Almost all Smart Controllers stop watering when it rains; but the ESP-SMT not only suspends irrigation, it measures instantaneous rainfall data, determining effective rainfall and calculating a net replacement value.
The ESP-SMT knows exactly how much to adjust your watering schedule, preventing under or over-watering.

You eliminate a minimum 30-70% of water waste.

If you are watering 7 days a week
and 2 ~ 3 time per day you could be using over 300% more
water than necessary!

Zone-specific water calculations

Different plants have different watering requirements.
That’s why the ESP-SMT customizes each zone’s irrigation
schedule. When calculating an accurate ET value for each
zone, it factors in location, soil type, landscape slope, plant
type/density, sun exposure, sprinkler type and root-depth
requirements. Based on this zone-specific data, the ESP-SMT
controller engine optimizes the irrigation schedule to
promote lush, healthy plant material in each station, while
substantially reducing water waste and runoff.

Cycle & Soak Watering

How much and how long to apply water depends on the type of soil that is being watered. Hard, compacted soil takes considerably longer to absorb water than loose granular soil. In order to maximize water use and prevent runoff, use the cycle and soak method of irrigation.

Watering in increments gives compacted soil adequate time to soak up water. Once the water from the first round of watering is absorbed, then water again about an hour later. The already moist soil will enable additional water to travel even deeper to the roots and in turn, create a healthier lawn.Applying too much water in one increment results in the ground reaching a saturation point meaning any additional water will run-off and be wasted.

In most lawn and garden situations, it's best if water is penetrating 6 to 8 inches beneath the surface of the soil. If the soil is still dry at this depth, then another cycle may be needed to encourage deep root growth.

We can perform a Water Use Audit to determine the extent of water and money that you may be wasting and could be saving.

Rain Bird ET Manager™

For Commercial Applications

Rain Bird® ET Manager™
The New Standard in Weather-Smart Irrigation.
water saving irrigation

No matter how efficient an irrigation controller’s watering schedule is, it must take into account constantly changing weather conditions – specifically evapotranspiration (ET) and rainfall.

ET is the amount of water lost from the soil through evaporation plus the plant’s water loss (known as transpiration), both of which are dramatically affected by weather conditions. Rain Bird ET Manager™ uses current weather information and ET to water your landscape only when it needs it. Since precise landscape water management is key to avoiding over-watering, the ET Manager can be an effective tool.

This simple, powerful irrigation management solution works with virtually any controller, converting a conventional irrigation system into a weather-smart one that adjusts itself according to accurate real-time weather data. The ET Manager helps to maintain the optimum moisture balance in your soil. As the weather changes, your ET Manager receives updates automatically every hour and only allows your controller to water when needed. The result: significant water savings, deeper root systems, and a healthier landscape. Whether you are a water agency, contractor, specifier, or homeowner, the ET Manager is the smart choice.

Why Install the ET Manager?

Unsurpassed Accuracy

The ET Manager is the most accurate product of its kind, featuring hourly (not just daily) wireless updates from local precision weather stations. ET Manager technology is based on the Irrigation Association endorsed, ASCE*-standardized ET equation, and includes data from all required climatic variables (solar radiation, temperature, wind, and humidity). An optional onsite rain gauge can further localize the weather data accuracy. With the ET Manager, your irrigation system will always be in tune with the weather. * American Society of Civil Engineers

Managed Allowed Depletion

Healthier Landscapes

Increased watering schedule control means your irrigation system delivers water only when the landscape needs it. Best horticultural practices recommend deep, less-frequent watering. The ET Manager does just that. Through a process known as “Managed Allowed Depletion,” it allows your soil’s moisture balance to reach a user-set moisture level that increases oxygen and promotes deeper, healthier root systems.

ET Manager is flexible and works with virtually any existing irrigation controller. Nearly any irrigation configuration – from the smallest residential yard to the largest commercial application – can benefit from ET Manager. Dramatic water savings mean that ET Manager is the smart choice for nearly any non-central control application: state agencies, water districts, universities, schools, parks, commercial buildings, planned communities, homeowner associations, apartment buildings, and more.

ET Manager™ Cartridge

For the ESP-LX Modular Controller

ET Manager™ Cartridge

The Rain Bird ET Manager Cartridge easily upgrades any ESP-LX Modular controller to an ET/Weather-based irrigation smart controller. The ET Manager Cartridge uses the same Weather Reach™ signal as the Rain Bird ET Manager (ETMi). The ET Manager Cartridge saves water by making real-time adjustments to the irrigation schedule based on hourly weather information. Additionally, by eliminating the need to travel to controller sites to make adjustments or programming changes, the ET Manager Cartridge contributes to significant labor savings.

Applications

The ET Manager Cartridge is ideal for high-end residential and light commercial applications. The ET Manager Cartridge is easily installed in any ESP-LX Modular with minimal need for tools or wiring.

Water Saving Benefits

* Water Savings of 30 ~ 70% over traditional time based irrigation control.
* Rain interrupt to prevent irrigation during rain events
* Wind interrupt prevent overspray during high wind conditions.
* Four separate moisture balances are maintained. One for each program or hydrozone to efficiently water varied plant types (example: turf, shrubs, trees, annuals, etc).

Landscape Drip & Low Volume Irrigation

Many plant zones and areas that are currently being irrigated by spray heads should actually be irrigated with a drip emitter tubing type system. When irrigated with a drip system water savings of up to 70% or more can usually be achieved.

Why Drip?

When it comes to keeping your flowers, shrubs and trees healthy and looking their best, Rain Bird Drip is your best choice. Unlike conventional “spray” systems that work great for lawns and more open expanses, drip products water at a much more localized level, directed at the plant root zones. They minimize runoff and eliminate over-spray onto windows, walks or streets. They are ideal for planting beds of all sizes. Plus, the slow, consistent application of water from a drip system helps plants to thrive and allows the water enough time to penetrate the surface down deeper into the root zone.

pressure-compensating emitter

Variety of flow rates, spacing and coil lengths provides design flexibility for a
number of nonturfgrass applications.

The pressure-compensating emitter design provides a consistent flow over the entire lateral length ensuring higher uniformity for increased reliability in the pressure range of 8.5 to 60 psi.

Dual-layered tubing (brown over black) provides unmatched resistance to chemicals, algae growth and UV damage.

When the application does call for Spray Head Irrigation use the new Rotary Nozzle Heads instead.

These Rotary Nozzles have lower precipitation rates and outstanding distribution uniformity. And they are much more resistant to wind than conventional spray heads.

The Intelligent Use of Water™

We can perform Residential and Commercial Water Audits to determine
all the ways you can save water.

An EPA Certified landscape irrigation auditor visits your site and shows you how to read the water meter to monitor water use, checks for leaks, evaluates the landscaping and irrigation system, and will show you how to adjust your irrigation controller for maximum watering efficiency. The auditor then provides a report and water saving suggestions.
